Bio
Hannah Wants' impressive and dedicated rise from teaching herself how to mix vinyl aged16 to global star is an achievement to be admired. Hannah is someone who respects the true art form of DJ'ing and not only is she a DJ with a unique style, she is also an acclaimed producer regularly releasing on some of dance music's most well-respected labels.
With fifteen years spent as a professional DJ Hannah remains as motivated as ever; she continues to live her dream, be a figure head for females in the industry and grow her loyal fan base. When you've been in the industry as long as Hannah Wants evolution is inevitable but it's also essential to remain at the top of your game. The journey Hannah has been on both personally and as an artist is something she views as being pivotal in her long standing career: "I've been through a lot, both personally and professionally and in 2022 I made a promise to be 100% my authentic self. If I'm honest I fell into the trap of trying to 'fit in' to certain event brands, record labels and trends. It's the biggest mistake you can make. Staying true to yourself is where your power is. I'm finally at a place where I, ironically, know what I actually want and in January 2024 I rebranded Hannah Wants to reflect the evolution. My brand needed to reflect my vision and now everything feels aligned. I make and play house music and many of its beautiful sub-genres and I am really enjoying expressing different sides of me and my sound through my productions and DJ sets."
In September 2022 Hannah Wants delivered her, "most meaningful production to date by a mile" on the legendary Defected Records. Born out of Hannah's personal heart break 'Cure My Desire' featuring vocalist Clementine Douglas earned the #1 spot on Beatport and is without doubt a future house music classic. After 19 months of continual momentum, a rarity in today's saturated market, the in demand sped-up Club 128 version dropped in April 2024 and the record continues to go from strength to strength.
Hannah's relationship with the London label has since continued to flourish with three singles on the imprint within twelve months; 'The One' featuring ARA (April 2023), 'Hard To Breathe' featuring Hannah Boleyn (August 2023), and 'Cruel Intentions', a collaboration with Sam Divine and Jem Cooke (January 2024). In May 2024 Hannah also released on Defected's sister label DFTD with the two-track GHETTO EP, a welcome return to her edgier, bass-heavy roots with two distinct tracks designed for the club.
Beyond releasing with Defected Hannah has been on notable remix / rework duties. She dropped a gritty remix of one of her all-time favourite records ('Fade' by Solu Music) and followed up with the much anticipated Hannah Wants 2024 rework of the classic Herd & Fitz featuring Abigail Bailey 'I Just Can't Get Enough' via Ministry of Sound. After two years in the making the long over due rework is proving to be a huge hit on the dancefloor as well as a viral hit on social media.
Looking forward Hannah Wants has a fifth Defected release lined up due for release November 1 titled 'Hold Me' featuring ARA and she's made a bold statement in saying that it's her "favourite production yet". You can also expect a brand new record label from Hannah, launching in 2025, and the ethos is simple; "less ego, more soul".
Whilst Hannah's maturity, journey and evolution as an artist is heard via her music releases she also continues to evolve and deliver behind the decks. She has the often overlooked ability to read a crowd and journey through house music in all its forms. Hannah encapsulates groovy, techy, deep, emotive, vocal led, bass-driven sounds and loves to infuse her sets with classics that have influenced her resulting in an ultra-unique style.
With Hannah Wants' worldwide touring schedule a clear sign of her demand she continues to build her profile across all territories. Each year Hannah remains one of the most prominent, active DJ's on the scene. She says "I've been in the game for a long time and I'm proud of what I've achieved but I'm forever humble. Whilst many fans of electronic music know who I am and what I do, I'm aware so many more still don't know my name or haven't heard my music and that's my motivation..."
